DIY Budget Aquarium Makeover: From Drab to Fab!

Posted by Joe Reinartz

“Bought this aquatop cube for 80 few months back. Decided to start a budget friendly project with parts I had laying around. Found the stump on a job site and soaked it. Dirted substrate with pool filter sand top total $6. Hyggar light $30. Unfortunately I went a little overboard and spent $100 total on plants lol. Started this project last week when I had the flu. Also just ordered a Aquario NEO CO2 - DIY CO2 Kit for $24 to make sure my plant investment doesn't go to waste. Will keep you posted how that system works. Looking for suggestions on flowering plants for the top that would do well.”
Creating a budget-friendly aquarium isn’t just about saving money—it’s about being creative, resourceful, and passionate. With a little effort, you can build a stunning aquarium that fits your wallet and wows your friends.
